It was...easy to miss the sharp man inside. And, once recognizing the sharp man, it would be easy to make the mistake of thinking the barbarian berserker was a disguise. Tag was both - and that was *before* his wolf entered into consideration.

–Burn Bright p 148

Tag's wolf could be counted on - not to be less ferocious or less, crazy, but the wolf obeyed orders. Tag had trouble with that when he walked on two feet.

Colin Taggart is a wolf in the Marrock's Pack who is a dominant. He is known for not talking to people he doesn't like, and protecting those he does take a liking to. He is known as the Berserker. Magic also slides off him in weird ways.

Appearance[]

Colin is a large man, nearly seven feet tall[1]. This makes him taller than Charles by a few inches, and larger all around. He also has bright red dreadlocks that sweep over his shoulders and hang almost to his waist, and beard that's a shade darker and "exploded exhuberantly down his down his chest in a mass that members of ZZ Top would envy" [2]. He has a surprising high soprano voice.[3] Identifies as Irish, Welsh, or Scot depending on the day and the accent he is using. [4].

Personality[]

Drives with a wild abandon that makes him likely to wreck a car. Likes to sound dumb, even in front of people he knows are wise to him[5], and takes great pride in letting people fall if they lean on him too much [6].

History[]

Fought for the Little Corporal during the Napoleonic War. Killed 7 wolves in his own pack before Charles fought him to a standstill.[7].

Books[]

Cry Wolf Tag's niece is a park ranger, and she brings in a fellow ranger who's been hurt by a werewolf: Tag's protection extends to this Ranger friend (Jake?), meaning the pack must find the werewolf before the ranger can tell the public about werewolves, or risk Tag pitting himself against others in the pack.

Burn Bright Tag is revealed to be a caretaker to some of the Wildlings.

Wild Sign Tag is part of the party sent to investigate the mystery at Wild Sign, because "magic rolls off him in weird ways."

Relationships[]

Charles Cornick: Tag is friendly and business-like with Charles but like almost everyone else he is scared of Charles. Charles fought him to a standstill multiple times when he went Berserker for the first time and killed 7 of his pack mates, and that's how he ended up joining the Aspen Creek Pack,

Anna Cornick: Tag and Anna are good friends and have been since Anna moved to Aspen Creek.

Asil: Tag says he and Asil converse better when they stick to the events of the present... they were on the opposite side of too many wars to discuss the past. [8]

Hester (Wildling): Tag and Hester were lovers a few centuries ago - it ended when she tossed him into the sea (both figuratively and literally) but they stayed friends because she fished him out so he didn't drown. [9]

Trivia[]

  • One time in Aspen Creek he found Mercy (in coyote form) hiding from Bran; he made a collar and leash out of his shoelaces and took her to Bran. In retaliation, she stole all of his shoelaces. For every holiday after that, until she left for Portland she gave him shoelaces, it made Colin laugh.[10]
